I wish you had been my mother's child. she would have been so proud! She was an Ayn Rand reader (probably one of the first) and a staunch believer in capitalism. Sadly she had a child who is a social worker. Human nature is what it is and as we are seeing so much in evidence today capitalism and the free market breeds greed in those in place to acquire the wealth. I am not a socialist, I don't believe we should all work for the greater good, because it has been proven over and over that it just doesn't work, but I do believe that this country needs to take a step back and reassess. I believe Obama has a good heart and wants fairness more than anything. He has to play the game. It scares the hell out of me as a mother of a nineteen year old that with Mccain's temper and Palin's insanity that if they are elected within months we will be in a full blown war and the draft will be instituted. Nothing matters more to me than keeping my sweet, honorable protected son safe from the evils of war. When I listen to Obama speak I feel safe. There is a calmness about him that I don't even think my mother could deny. Maybe I'm wrong, only time will tell. I just have to go with my gut on this one. There is an article on the obama/ayers controversy here: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/he_lied_about_bill_ayers.html

As far as acorn goes, sometimes you need radical action to right wrongs. it was true that black americans were not being allowed to vote, or apply for benefits they were due. (i know so many black people who have never taken a dime from the system. some of them are in their eighties and are so eligible but won't do it. it is a source of pride for them and there is no telling them that they need it for their medicine.) this was not right. i do not condone all their actions by any means but sometimes the end does justify the means. if we had never stood up and said no to the vietnam war i truly believe we would still be there to this day. talk about a drain on the economy.

What's wrong with being a social worker? Their only problem is they work for the wrong people and don't get paid enough.

Greed doesnt exist outside of capitalism? come on you can do better than that.

You believe he has a good heart based on what? I beleive bush had a good hear and a good record, a better record than obama because he actually had a job and actually ran a state. yet that proved to be nothing. It's pie in the sky thinking to assume he has a heart, because it would only be based on his smooth speeches. Don't drink the kool aid. There is no room for emotions or emotional support.

No candidate will institute the draft. 80% of the population is against it. They've been spouting that rhetoric for every president for the last 40 years. It's a fear tactic.

You arent thinking clearly. You feel safe when he speaks? Arent you embarrassed to say that? When IRAN wants him to be president, and so does Syria, the leading sponsors or terrorism...that speaks volumes of "being safe".

THE ENDS NEVER JUSTIFY THE MEANS unless it's self defense to save your own life. PRAGMATISM is what put us in this bailout mess. Pragmatism is what put us in Iraq. Pragamatism is what has us in a recession/depression. UGH!!!!

All our standing up to the Vietnam War did was kill more of our soldiers. But that's ok in the minds of those who think the ends justify the means.

  1. Voting fraud is one of those things that should be a capital offense. It's a form of treason.

I don't believe a word about blacks not being able to vote or receive benefits, not a word of it.

When I hear Obama speak, I feel sick to my stomach. I think his heart is blacker than he is.

Most people don't know that Ho Chi Minh offered the US a perm. naval base in Vietnam if we would help get the French out of their country.
