Shoot the Messenger

I'm very tired, yet still miffed at how people like to attack me because I post something. They attack me assuming I agree with what I posted. They attack me when I post things for discussion. They assume and they generalize. It drives me nuts. It happens here, and it happens on The Truthpost.

For example, I posted an email that I've been receiving regarding the Auto Industry bailout. I posed it as a question, because I would like to discuss it. I pose news items and op ed pieces, then I get aligned with it. I get maligned if I don't persecute the author for writing that article as well.

Last month I asked a question .."aren't all women gold diggers?". My God you would have thought I said Oprah was fat, from all the hate mail I got. Geez.

Ask me if you want to know, else you should probably know when I'm writing my opinions. If you can't decipher that without first jumping to conclusions, then I've got some work to do, or I just won't worry about it.

I like to come here to talk politics and to read about it, even though we're half a country apart and the regional problems are different.

I don't do it-politics- much on my blog because I don't want the headaches of trying to rebut knuckleheads who wouldn't change their minds anyway because they've already been brainwashed.

I'm tired, too. Just think, a big election will be coming up in two years, and then the presidential election will begin...just like Christmas stuff coming into the stores in September.

I don't have a problem with people not expressing their opinions on what they post, but I object when people expressing their opinions belittle others or try to make them feel stupid. Of course, there is no reason to pretend respecting somebody’s view point if you don’t, but the way we often sound makes people take it personally and this will close their minds to whatever truth we try to deliver.
I don't know why some of us (in reference to truth post) have this tendency thinking, perhaps, we encourage the debate or that people would understand better if we talk down at them. They won’t.

  4. Anon, I think part of that is "showing off" and I've been guilty of that.

I try to be as polite as can be, but I can't let a falsehood go unchallenged. I think that the anger sometimes is from the frustration of someone being bull-headed and ignoring the points you've made.

I agree that people won't change their mind, but I think that's if they've already stated their viewpoint. It's already out there, carved in stone so changing their mind can't be done w/out seeming to be stupid.

I've had my mind changed by debate between others, though...and it's usually by someone who can present his argument in a calm, rational manner without resorting to insults.

I've noticed in myself and others that things that happen in real life or even in other forums can affect one's treatment of others.

I've been pissed off since the Republican primaries. I've seen my retirement fund drop in value by a fourth...and then came the election. I've had to read the jeers and taunts of liberals but that wasn't bad as reading the comments of so-called conservatives who won't admit when they've been wrong.

    Bad mood? Heck yeah.
