Truth - Fire In The Belly

Catching fire flies...throwing them in the pond...watching the mouths of the goldfish light up...then their bellies light up...And I ask myself when I see all of this how people can live without a pond?

Liberty - The End of the World

Check out this cloud formation. I'm driving down the freeway, and I see this. I'm thinking, oh great some numb nut pushed the red button and a nuke went off. We just bombed Canada!

Liberty - Sheeple

Now that Hillary is out of the picture, her faithful are flocking to Obama. Where only a few weeks ago, they couldnt stand the guy. Now they "feel good" about him because he wrote a personal check to help pay off her debt. I find this incredibly laughable and sad at the same time. All that wasted rhetoric and talk where they based each other means nothing now. So the sheeple will just support the party line, because everyone wants to side withsome, with a winner, with the quickest way to support the object of their misdirected anger.

This country be in trouble!

A.D.D. Rumblings No. 62408

1. Ed McMahon has been on television recently because he has mortgage problems. He's about to lose his mansion, and is crying out for help. Blow me.

2. George Carlin was an identifier of truth. While some see him as a comedian, he was a truth seeker first. He made us look at what was normal, and showed us how absurd it really all is. Long live his truth.

3.
Dippin Dots is that funky cold ice cream that really isn't that good to begin with. Yet I still see them around, and the logo says Ice Cream of The Future. Yet they've been around for years right? So how does that make it the future? And why isnt anyone else doing the same thing. Lame.

6.
I was at the beach recently and a waterpark. I've concluded that 99% of all people should not wear bathing suits. Also don't you find it funny that a person wearing a bathing suit is ok in public, yet if they wore a bra out in public people would freak.

4. Is there anything worse than waiting for someone to come through on something, then they don't? No explanations, no apologies, no nothing...they just carry on as if it's no big deal. Sometimes I think they just think you'll forget about it. And if I don't say something about it, it may lend itself to them thinking they got off the hook. I may not say something, but I don't forget. Trust is everything.

5.
I have no problem with people joining a church and giving money to the church they believe in and support. To each his own. I do find it odd that a church would require you to give 10% of your salary. I have friends that do this, and it boggles my mind. Whatever.

7. The Red wings have won 4 Stanley Cups in my lifetime. Does it get any better than that? That will be hard to top. I am satisfied with that organization, probably the best in all of sports.

[ This blog is brought to you by the word vexation ]

9. Lack of common sense! So I order 20 items from a sporting goods company. They ship me 15. Where is the other 5? They canceled it because it was on backorder. Backorder? What does that mean? I call them and they say they wont be getting the 5 other items. What?! Then why did you ship me the 15 if I didn't get 20? Why not ask me instead of shipping me a partial order and expecting me to pay for this. Now I have to send the entire order back, and hope they give me a refund quickly. Amazing.

8.
We have the technology (underwater robots) to drill off shore on both coasts safely. I understand the plight of those wanting to save the environment, but the time has come to start drilling. Not for profit, but to lower the darn cost of oil! I like spotted owls as much as the next guy, but I love driving my car just a tad better. Let's drill now.

10. Is there anything more awkward than being in an elevator with a stranger or a group of strangers? No one talks, no one says anything. Some people just look at you, some people look away. Most everyone looks up at the numbers thinking it will somehow move faster if you they look. I dunno, they need to make this less awkward. Install TVs in there? Seats? A mini bar maybe? I'm open for suggestions. That reminds me, I used to work in a large skyscraper where for 1 month some person would pee in the elevator. They called him the pee bandit. They never caught him. It pissed me off to walk into that elevator sometimes.

I don't get it

There are 2% less cars on the road this year than last year. Yet prices are still climbing for fuel.

A.D.D. Rumblings No. 61508

1. Some say that love is the illusion that one person is actually different than then next. Seems like a huge generalization, but have you ever really thought about why you love the person in your life? Why do you love people and then move on to other relationships?

2. Pssst. I think that everyone gossips. Some just know more than others, some just have the nerve to say things. That might make that person the gossiper, or the big mouth, but I think that's what makes them different. Otherwise everyone talks about everyone pretty much.

4. I saw RUSH in concert last week at Joe Louis Arena. Great concert per usual. These guys sound amazing, and they are right on note for note. Sometimes Geddy Lee doesn't hit the high notes, but they all recover very well. They didn't play my favorite song THE PASS, but the 28 song playlist was pretty strong. A few friends of mine wanted more classics, but I'm OK with those not being played. I really like the new stuff, and every concert I've been to by them, they do play songs I've never heard before live. I've seen them 6 times, and along with Elvis Costello or The Rolling Stones are the only bands I'd care to see more than once.

3. I have had this mentioned to me several times over the years. That people won't approach me at first because they think I'm pissed off or mean. I like this actually, but it's not entirely true. I'm probably pissed off, but I'm not mean. Then after they meet me and get to know me, they tell me I'm not really like that. Well that kinda pisses me off! First impressions are everything?

5. Tim Russert dying was a bigger news event than I'd ever thought. He got more coverage them most celebrities, and that's fine. But make no mistake, it was because he was in the media. I didn't dislike him, but I could never trust him. He was a die hard liberal, and from New York no less...almost the worst kind (Massachusetts liberals being the worst). But I did enjoy Meet The Press often. Sunday mornings I like to write with the show in the background. It'll be different from now on. He was good though, I'll give him that.

[This blog is brought to you by the word IMPATIENT and the number 215]

6. I really like golf, even though I haven't golfed in a while. I really can't stand golf attire. I don't like golf shirts, can't stand the hats, and the dress pants bug me. I understand real sports have uniforms, but golf has got to change. Someone please change this. It bothers me.

7. I had a doctor tell me the other day flat out that I need to lose weight. He didn't recommend it, he didn't ask me, he didn't hint. He told me to me face - lose weight or you are going to pay for it. Ok! Diet Green Tea by Snapple has zero calories fyi.

8. Do you have something in your past that you are dying to tell someone? But you refrain from doing so because your better judgement says not to say anything? So you just keep it inside you, yet it keeps coming to your brain as something worth mentioning. Don't you wish you could just erase it forever? How do you do that without it bothering you?

9. People ask me if I'm going to vote for Ron Paul still. Yes I am. You can get an absentee ballot, and vote for him this way. The message is important. Those of you under the illusion of change that really just want your taxes raised more, please vote for Obama. Those of you that want more recession and our economy at the hands of other countries please vote for McCain. You are screwed either way. The lesser of two evils is still evil. Don't compromise your principles, because then you win nothing. The Revolution continues.

10. You have a right to be happy. You should be happy. Why are you with him/her if you aren't happy? I just want to be happy. She isn't happy. He isn't happy. Are you happy? Is it me or is the word HAPPY overused or misused. What the heck does being happy really mean. Are you walking around with a smile on your face 24/7? Are the happy people the ones that wish you a Happy Monday? Because those people don't make me happy I know that. Is your goal to be happy, and if so how is that possible. I tend to strive to be content, thus that ultimately makes me happy. Yet I don't know if I should be achieving more or not.

The Trees - state of politics

Politics in a nutshell - THE TREES by RUSH

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

MARLENA SHAW
California Soul

Like a sound you hear
That lingers in your ear
But you can't forget
From sundown to sunset

It's all in the air
You hear it everywhere
No matter what you do
It's gonna get a hold on you

California soul, California soul
They say the sun comes up every morning
And if you listen carefully
The winds that ride on the high time
Whistle a melody

And so the people started to sing
And that's how the surf gave birth untold
California soul, California soul

When you hear the beat
You wanna pat your feet
And you've got to move
'Cause it's really such a groove

Puts a brand new time of thinking in your mind
And you can't go wrong
'Cause you're happy all day long
California soul, California soul

They had the melody and the beat
But it still didn't seem complete
Until they saw two lovers kissin'
They knew just what was missin'

So happy they were rockin' and reelin'
Because they added that lovin' feeling
To California soul, California soul

Always wanted to do this

The Malachi Crunch!

RUSH albums

Rush (1974) - Working Man. Just a classic anthem rock type tune. I love the guitar solo.

Fly by Night (1975) - I love Fly by Night, it's just classic Rush. But I really like Anthem. It symbolzies the libertarian philosophy the band aspires too. An ode to Ayn Rand.

Caress of Steel (1975) - I think I'm going bald I sing alot lately in the mirror..but Bastille Day is one the best songs ever. Lakeside park is cool, but Bastille wins hands down.

2112 (1976) - Overture no doubt! A passage to Bangkok though is a close second.

A Farewell to Kings (1977) - Closer to the heart is great, but I would listen to Xanadu on my headphones before my soccer games to get pumped up and ready to play.

Hemispheres (1978) - The Trees. The lyrics are dead on. Friggin democrats!

Permanent Waves (1980) Natural Science is the best song on this album, but Spirit and Freewill have
the lyrics that will last a life time. One likes to believe in the freedom of music...

Moving Pictures (1981) This is my favorite Rush album. My only problem is it only has 7 friggin songs.
Tom Sawyer, Red Barchetta, Vital Signs, YYZ, and Limelight are equally great!

Signals (1982) I played this album to death when I got it. All the songs are similar with a heavy synth. So my favorite was always The Analog Kid, because it kicked!

Grace Under Pressure (1984) Very underrated album. Red Sector A is a favorite as is The Body Electric. I have a rare import of this on red vinyl, it's cool. Between the wheels though has a slight edge ont the rest.

Power Windows (1985) Mystic Rythyms and The Big Money got the airplay. I like them, but Manhattan Project is my favorite. Lyrically this was a great album. Not a powerful album musically though, but
a must for any die hard.

Hold Your Fire (1987) Probably their weakest album, but Mission is a great song. I love the lyrics and the transistions.

Presto (1989) The Pass is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. It's Rush's favorite song, so that must mean something. it has everything!

Roll the Bones (1991) Ghost of a Chance is a song that I checked out today. The lyrics are cool, and
I just like it. I always found this album complex and super progressive.

Counterparts (1993) This has to be the only album where I don't have a favorite. It's all good but nothing really stands out. Probably Animate as it's the only song I could easily identify if you play it. The rest I wouldnt know, or I'd have to guess a few times.

Test for Echo (1996) Test for echo is what I like, and Half the World. I have this at my desk, and play it when I'm ticked off. I do tech support, so needless to say I play this album often.

Vapor Trails (2002) Earthshine is my favorite song on the album by far. However Ghost Rider reminds me of the book, and that has to be the most powerful message. I need a bike, gotta ride!

Feedback (2004) The Seeker. I love the Who, and Rush does this song justice. The other songs are ok but seem contrived.

Snakes & Arrows (2007) This is like Moving Pictures, take your pick here. I love all these songs. The baselines are the best of all the Rush albums. The Main Monkey Business or Spindrift get me going. Far Cry is great too. To me this album best represent Rush from 1990 on.

Let's go Red Wings

Game 5 was out of this world unreal. 3 overtimes. I'm still tired and it's a day later. The series has been pretty good so far. The Pens arent lying down, and that's good for the game, good for the fans, good for the Wings. If they are going to win, they are going to have to really earn it. Just because they are the better team means nothing. It's the team the has the most breaks, works the hardest, and has the most luck takes home the Cup. My confidence level is low that they will win it all now, but I'm not off the bus. Never will be. Go Wings!

Unleash the green fairy in you

yeah it's weird

A.D.D. Rumblings No. 6108

1. I just saw a stat where the average American spends about $16,000 for a dog that lives to to be 11. I'm on my 4th dog. One lived to be 18, the other 12. My current ones are 13 and 4. What I could with all of that friggin money right now, not to mention all the investments and IRAs I could have put that towards. Heck paying off some debt or bills, or have the bike I want. Or the 1970 Cadillac that I need. The pet industry is just that, made to shackle your financial freedoms away. I love my dogs, but I hate the entire concept. It's a dog eat dog world and I'm eating milkbone underwear.

2. I went out with some friends to watch the game the other night. The sports bar was located near a movie theater and a few dance clubs. What my friends and I noticed where how scantily clad the young girls were in the are. We were a bit confused as to why they were dressed this way, and why they didn't seem to really care. I don't know, if my daughter or little sister dressed like that, they wouldn't leave the house. I guess the people around these girls don't feel the same way. Just curious as to that line of thinking. It was a popularity contest on who could have the shortest skirt.

3. With the Pittsburgh Penquins in the Stanley Cup there is a constant barrage of Mario Lemieux comparisons with wonder boy Sydney Crosby. Crosby is no Lemiuex and never will be. Mario was probably the best pure goal scorer in the history of the game. While Crosby is still young, even at the same age Mario was far superior. I'm really tired of the media latching on to him making him out to be the next 99 or Mario. It's just not there. He's pretty good, but he is not that good - yet. I don't think he'll ever be, but it's possible if he improves. Go Red Wings!

5. My friend who lost his job has about a month until his last day. He has some options, and one of them is escaping corporate America for a while. His close friend is calling it Independence Day for him. Truthfully there's a part of him that wants it to happen, just to get out. Just to be free of the stress of the daily grind for a while. To get away from the red tape. To spend time actually living instead of dying a slow death in the walls of an office cube, while the world and time passes you by. I have another friend who is so sick of the layoffs and they way the company treats their employees, is going to walk away from it all too. She has enough money to live for a few years saved up, and wants to just do what she wants. I envy them both for that move towards freedom. Independence Day...can you wait for it?

4. I saw a report that thieves are now looking for houses that have manicured lawns and nice landscaping. It's a signal to them that the owner probably has good lawn equipment to steal, as well some money to boot. Well that sucks, now you have to fool thieves into being a slob and not cut your lawn? Man this world is nuts. I've always felt that if thieves could use their ways for good, they'd be filthy rich.

6. I drove by a Home Depot, and right across the same parking lot was a Lowe's Hardware store. Are you kidding me? How can the local city government allow this? Why would either want to be located in this spot? Location, Location, Location... but this can't help either one have an advantage over the other? I don't get it. I find the same thing when I see 2 drug stores at the same intersection. Enough!

[ Today's blog is brought to you by the word PATIENCE. They say patience is a virtue. I say it totally blows ]

7. Well 4 games into my softball season and we are 1 and 3. We won our last game but it wasn't pretty. Defensively we turned it up a notch, so that was refreshing. However the team we beat was not that good. We left 15 runners on base. The worst part was bases were loaded 3 times and we couldn't drive a runner home. There's something going on with our team, and I'm trying to figure it out. I believe while we are older and slower, we are not smarter. To overcome age, you have to use your brains and our guys aren't thinking. We must adapt to win. It's the only way.

8. With the Detroit Pistons losing in the Eastern Conference finals, I reaffirmed what it is that I don't like about the NBA. The Pistons represent that perfectly. They are overrated, lazy, lethargic, and could care less about winning. They emphasize things that don't matter etc. I really tried, but that fact is I just don't care anymore.

9. I'm always reading about new gadgets and the latest Internet widgets. My only frustration lies within the fact that there really is too much. There's too much of what I don't need, and not enough of what I want. Yet you have to check this out when you get a chance. Microsoft Surface: http://www.microsoft.com/surface/videos.html#gid=demos&vid=d4 Now this is very cool. I'm not a proponent of that company for various reasons, but this is bingo! They hit the nail on the head with this stuff.

10. If you don't tell someone something, is it really a lie when they find out? Probably not, but if you know they would be upset if they found out would you be willing to take the chance anyways? Isn't then the same as a lie, withholding information? The truth is the truth, no matter how you slice it or present it. Even if you don't tell someone, the truth is you still did it. Doesn't that make it wrong? You don't tell them because you want to protect them, yet when they find out you hurt them because you didn't tell them, and because you did it. Complicated.
