Sports: The Golden Child Crosby

Sidney Crosby of the Penquins is a very good player. You can't argue that point. However, he's a crying whiner, and that bothers me a bit. It bothers most people. However many primadonas and elite players of the league, and of years gone by have and have had a certain element of this: Yzerman, Gretzky, especially Mario Lemieux. Though the bigger issue with me is the NHL has him as their poster child for marketing. I really hate that stuff. This is purely NBA garbage - the David Stern school of marketing a league to the masses. You simply can't do that in the NHL, because most fans (yes even Penquin fans) can see right through that stuff. Officiating is horrible, for this reason. It's a joke and everyone knows it. Those that don't are those people I don't talk sports with.

How can anyone take the NHL seriously anymore? How do you root for your team knowing the NHL is siding with your player, or siding against your team so ratings can go up? I supported Gary Bettman during the lockout. However, that is the only thing I've ever supported him on. Since he has come in the league, he has done NOTHING to help the game for the hardcore fan. If so, please point it out to me. Hockey in Atlanta? Give me a break...the worst sports town in America. Hockey in Phoenix? Joke. The Red Wings in the West? The list goes on and on.

At least the NHL could have a player that didnt cry like a baby so much as their poster child. And could play decent on the road. Tired Tired Tired of bitching about this, since I fear it'a mute point. The League does not care.
