Liberty: Because They Can?
Every winter it seems I see news stories of two things that boggle my mind.
The first one is fishermen who get stuck on ice break offs. They ice fish on the Great Lakes or smaller lakes...but inevitably the ice breaks off and they are lost. Rescue teams and police resources are utilized to go get these people; to save their lives. I'm not knocking ice fishing, but do you really need to have your SUV on the ice with you? Come on.
The second is mountain climbers. There's always a report of several climbers missing after a storm or an avalanche. Well what are they doing there in the first place? Who are these people that climb mountains in the middle of winter just do it? Again helicopters and rescuse teams spend hours and tons of money going after these people.
I don't get it. Who are these people who have no regard for danger and harms way? Thrill seekers? Dumb? Some day I'll figure it out. If you know, please let me know.
I think about Sir Edmund Hillary. He was famous for climbing Mt. Everest. Again I say..SO?
Excelsior!
