Truth: Fixing The Country Part I

Fixing the Country Part I
1. Privatize social security starting now.  It's going bankrupt.

2. Get the government out of healthcare.  Regulate healthcare instead.  Gee what a concept!
3. Stop bailing out companies. If they die, then so be it.
4. Get rid of NAFTA.
5. Get out of the United Nations, and kick them off our soil. They are useless.
6. Stop giving aid to foriegn countries, while getting nothing back.
7. Let the free markets dictate trade.
8. The Constitution should be mandatory reading.
9. Term limits are fine; only if politicans are not allowed to build war chests. If people want to vote these bastards back in fine, but it cant be because they have more money.
10. Subject congress to all of the laws we have; not excluded like they have for heatlhcare.  Elitists!

Devoid of Compassion

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I saw this tshirt once. It said this:
"State mandated compassion produces, not love for one's fellow man, but hatred and resentment"
It sounds strange doesn't it? But it's true. For example when the state forces a company to pay minimum wage, it automatically eliminates jobs that the poor or unskilled could have because businesses are then forced out of business. See how simple that works? If that state truly cared...they would let businesses determine wages.
My friend New Yawk Mike is hell bent that the new Health Care Plan or any government program is full of compassion and at it's roots is simply human nature to care.
I'm not discounting that premise that government programs are for the most part created for a good cause. I believe and perhaps naively think that even the Washington pencil neck geeks, the annoying lawyers, and the liberal left do things out of compassion.
However their compassion is simply forced on, and always is done so by coercion, tax, and force. So whatever good intentions there are; whatever pragmatic ends come of their programs - it's done incorrectly and always at the cost of someone else.
I've been accused of not caring. When in fact, it is the complete opposite. I care that businesses are allowed to thrive, so they can pay workers. So they can create jobs. So there is more wealth in the community. The state does the opposite by their existence. The state who provides shelters for the corporations at the expense of the middle class does so without caring for the middle class.
It's reasonable to say the state has no compassion. You know what I mean. I'm not an anarchist...but I do envy them a great deal. Government has a role; compassion isn't one of them. At least not proactively.

Just to let you know, on my blog main page http://www.hockeydino.com/ there is a similar listing of posts under each new post. It's pretty cool. For example when I blog about baseball, any previous post about baseball will be listed. It' sort of like my own search engine pre-defined. Check it out when you get the chance. Thanks!

A.D.D. Rumblings No. 32910

1. I'm not sure if I'm happy that rinos are joining the tea party movement just because they are anti-obama and anti-health care.  I suppose it's OK. It's sort of like going to war and having France as an ally.  You do what you gotta do even though you can't trust them.

2. It bothers me when walking in the men's room, the guy who is finishing up turns towards you while putting up his zipper.  Turn the other way you freak.

3. I saw on two separate news interviews the mainstream media saying that the public overwhelmingly accepts the national health care plan.  What?  Yeah maybe in New York and California the liberal bastions of the country...but overall? ...no way.  Liars.

5. I dislike buying hockey sticks.  Ok so I spend $30 on a stick.  I used to spend $15 back in the day.  Sticks though now do not last very long.  I'm on my third one this year alone.  I wonder what the return
on investment is on buying a stick?  I'm sure some nerd somewhere figured this out.

4. I'm looking for a cool used American car that gets decent gas mileage.  It has to be cool looking. I don't care what other people think about it, I care what I think about it. I'm superficial that way.

6. When spring rolls around, and the sun is more prevalent...I have this huge desire to clean and organize. I have this need to throw things away.  Either that or I'm pregnant.

[ This blog brought to you by the word monstrosity and the number 2013 ]

7. 16,500 new jobs have been created by Obama recently! Hooray! Oh wait, it's for IRS agents who will go after people who didn't sign up for health care.  Who's paying for these people?  YOU.

8. If I don't feel good all of the time, is it because I'm a hypochondriac? Or is it because I want attention?  Or maybe I just want to feel bad?  Or is it because I don't know any better?

9. I was at a restaurant that had a banquet room where a wedding was going on. The bar area also became the dance area for the wedding. So while I was enjoying my dinner, I had to watch these guys doing their
standard white man dance - the same 3 moves while biting their lower lip.  Then watching women do the exact same 3 moves while screaming every time a new song started.  I didn't order dessert.

10.There are 5 people who copy what I do on Facebook.  Should I get in their face about it, or just let it slide?  I'm not angry or even flattered. I just would like an original thought or idea instead of mimicking me.  I don't learn anything by looking in the mirror.

Liberty: Palin and McCain Get Out!

An Open Letter to Sarah Palin and John McCain -
Get Lost.  You weren't invited to the real tea party.  You crashed it.  We don't want you here. It's for members only. You call yourself conservatives, but you aren't.  You are part of the problem, and while you may be better than any commie lib or Obama...you still don't cut the mustard.  You fall short on defending the constitution.
Please stop with your speeches on Freedom and Liberty - you do not know that of which you speak.  To get your sound bites here and there so the MSM can increase your campaign contributions is simply lame.  We get it. We see it.
Now get lost.
And to you Mr. Steele, chairman of the republican party - GET A CLUE.
Read up, and KNOW what it means to be republican.  All you do is support people that got us here in the first place.  McCain? Romney? Palin? Gingrich?
Stop riding the Reagan train...it's long gone. He wouldn't give any of you the time of day anyways.

I am not a Palin basher like the left is.  They will chop her down on everything that comes out of her mouth.  I think that is lame.  But I call it as I see it...she is no conservative.

McCain lost for a reason - don't forget.

My work is never done.  Now seating Bitter, table for one.

Love Mail
Love your posts, I find them interesting and entertaining

Hate Mail
This was a discussion I had to a post where someone was praising the Health Care plan. I've changed the names to protect the stupid.

Melanie
Thank you President Obama for not allowing the nay sayers block your intentions for good. God continue to walk with and guide you. Change is uncomfortable, uncomfortable may be good for some of us to get up off our butts. Hey I am not political, I am for God and I believe that God is with Mr. Obama.
Hockey Dino
What? Are you telling me God lied to me? He told me he wasn't with Obama. He was with those who choose freedom and liberty...not a tyrannical state. I'm confused now.

Heidi
Thank you Hockey Dino...WILL America be "free" to our future generations ?? We must now be willing to "band together" in THIS country to defend our constitutional rights that our founders fought for, so we could live THIS way--what are we leaving for OUR future generations/ancestors ??
Hockey Dino
A revolution is a good thing. I'm ready.
Don
I can appreciate the optimism Melanie...but "uncomfortable" can also be the beginning of bigger problems...you can call people naysayors, but sometimes experience and caution count...the way they are planning to pay for this is not going to cover the cost...
Melanie
I hear u, again not political just saying the old way wasn't working either
Hockey Dino
What old way? My healthcare is great. And I won't get arrested should I choose to get rid of it.
Donna
My healthcare costs my employer THOUSANDS of dollars a year, Healthcare COSTS are bankrupting companies. People are losing their jobs because of this. It's a fact. If we can send money at the drop of a hat to any country that asks, we surely can take care of Americans. I wish I had the answers. All I can say is I NEVER want to see someone I love dying and worrying about their medical bill.
Don
The biggest problem with this bill is that it has NO curbs on insurance cost...none. They were removed from the bill. The insurance will be required by everyone (or pay a fine if you choose not to have it) but the insurance companies can raise rates at will. The scariest part of this is that there is no limit to how much we will have to pay into this...
Melanie
Sorry all, didn't mean to start anything. I made a point of stating This was not political for me. It is about not allowing any american to be without healthcare. Regardless of everyones personal opinion, this is not a "All about me" thing. It is time for change, God is about loving and taking care of one another. And the constitution needs to be be reformed, How old is it? Look there will always be those who abuse things. but for the most part, the ppl who will benefit have or do work and have paid into the system (i.e. our grandparents). Get over yourselfs, think about others. And the old system (gov./pres) didn't raise your taxes? Yes he did.

Donna
Aww, Melanie, I get what you're saying and for the most part, I DO AGREE. I just don't think that the plan as written will do much more than raise costs. But hopefuly, it will change as it's looked over.

Heidi
We have been without health care ins. since fall 2007, when hubby was "laid off"-he is STILL unemployed and job avalability does NOT look good. The fact that we will not be "allowed" to be without it sounds controlling - we cannot pay for it, so fine or no fine -we won't be buying it -or paying a bill (fine) for it --so it is not something that will "help" us.
Connie
If all americans-including the government employess were to use this universal plan, i would like it better. One thing that upsets me is- when you get to age 65 you have to take death planning classes every 5 years till you die- I'm so tempted to move to an island somewhere, the socialistic bent this country is taking is making me feel Chinese.

Heidi
I agree with Kimberly
Tina
I SUPPORT PRESIDENT OBAMA AND HEALTH CARE REFORM!
Hockey Dino
I would never support the Health Care form that has just passed. It's a complete joke and anyone who supports it, support fascim and the loss of freedom. This is beyond being a democrat or republican. It's truly anti-American.
Melanie I dont understand how you can say you are not political yet go on to endorse a politican, then voice your opinion about his policy. It's a hypocritical statement. Everyone is political and everything is political.
When 60% of the population is opposed to this, one might to wonder what the heck is going on

Darlene
Hockey Dino u said it all when u said your health ins. is great, what about all the Americans (myself included) who don't have health care, who are out of work, and looking at not being able to get a job, because there isn't any, and put in my age (53) who is going to hire me because of my age because of the health care system that is in place now either won't insure me or at a cost no employer wants to pay something has to be done and what Obama has done is a start in the right direction, no it is not perfect but it is a start, why shouldn't all Americans not have to worry about not being able to go to a doctor or hospital without the fear of not being able to pay, or being turned away because u don't have any insurance, the first thing any doctor office, or hospital will ask is what insurance do you have, and when u say u don't, the next question is "how are you going to pay for this" Or if u do have insurance (which I did have, up until I got laid off) that they won't pay because it is a pre-existing condition, or to have a child born with a illness, that they say is pre-existing and will not insure them, or u used all of your life long allotment, what then? You are lucky that your healthcare is great, but most aren't, and this is the change Obama wants to make. Healthcare should be a right, not judged on what u can pay, or if you happen to have a employer that can afford to pay the outrageous premiums that healh insurance companies now charge. We are talking about life here, and is my life any less important then the man who can afford to pay the high premiums? In the long run this will be a good thing, I disagree with the fact that people will get fined if they don't have insurance but the same happens if you don't have car insurance, so what's the difference?
Yesterday at 6:21pmDebbie Manausa Just want to add: I love my country, but I love my fellow Americans more, and no person should not be able to have health care

Hockey Dino
Darklen I am not bragging about my healthcare...it may or may not be good. I have no problem with it...other than it's too expensive.
My point is, if healthcare is desired by all (and that's not the case), then cost should be driven down by the free market, not government intervention which fines and arrests people. Reform is needed, but this is nothing more than corporatism by FORCE. that's nothing to be proud of.
We are going about it the wrong way.

Hockey Dino
http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnalysis/capitalhill.htm
Melanie
wow did not know this would bring on such a response. I value each opinion. I must clear up this one thing, I did not make a hypocritical statement. I did not say I endorse a politician I said I endorse his decision to make healthcare available to every american. So you see my thoughts and concerns are every american being healthy and that is the bottom line. If 60% of the population is opposed to this, then I pray for them. That they will maintain the coverage they have now. That they are able to keep the jobs they have now. Nothing is guarenteed. As a retired nurse of 17yrs, as someone who had a substanstial savings which was gone in 16months because I was suddenly hit with a terminal illness and had no health coverage, because it hadn't kicked in yet and then couldn't get coverage because of my diagnosis. I have first hand experience. Now what most of you do not believe or realize is that you are one pay check away from possibly being in the same situation. That great healthcare you have now, would be oh so glad to cut you off at the drop of a dime. I truly pray you don't have to experience this for yourself or a family member. May you all be blessed, healthy and safe. May you be more thoughtful of others as this the way Jesus taught us to be.
We Agree to Disagree. And then Hopefully we pray for one another.
Bubba
We are all expressions of GOD. GOD is with all of us.
Hockey Dino
No no no...Agreeing to disagree is unaceptable in any forum. It's a complete copout. You agreeing with his decision is worse than being a hypocrite (I'm not calling you a hypocrite by the way...I accept your clarification thank you).
If you want American's to be healthy, that's great. However you re going about it the wrong way. This will put more people out of jobs than ever before, and put us further into debt. Look at the numbers...it's all there. If the Dems looked at it, they wouldnt have passed it either. They though just passed it to pass it disregarding the ramifications. Not to mention they are exempt from the plan (Red Flag!) themselves.
Healthcare is a mess, but you don't fix it by throwing fire on it. It can't work.
Melanie
Thanx for clarification
Donna
the problem is the free market will not bring down prices, they will continue to raise prices which has been the case for a long while now, so who should police them? Free enterprise has over stepped their bounds by makeing their prices to high for the average person to afford, and how much of that payment is for services, or to line their own pockets? I'm not saying that you should not be able to make a profit on what u are selling, but come on, a profit should not be made at the expense of others, as I said before is one life more important then another? Or if you pay for a service for 10 years, never useing it, and in the tenth year you come down with something and you get cancelled, where did your ten years worth of money you sent them go. You'd be better off putting that money away for a rainy day, and pay cash for that operation, that is what this "Health Care Reform" is about
Hockey Dino
We dont have a free market. We have a mixed economy. Instead of leaning towards that, we went in the opposite direction against the will of the people.
Corporatism is what we have; which is essentially now fascism. The
profiteers of this mess become now more profitable at the expense of the middle and working class. The small business, gets hosed.
Melanie
Tghanx for the info
Larry
Michelle from your brother in the lord. As children of God we are like pilgrims passing through this life, looking to graduate into heaven once our assignments hear on earth is up. When your focus is on worldly issues thats the way you will react, but when your focus is on spiritual things of God the worldly things around us will not affect us let me reword that, they will affect you but not consume you, in other words what ever happens God will give us the strength and peace needed to make it through what ever is decided on capital hill. Continue to love everyone the way that you do and God is taking care of the rest. This is not a debate Michelle you dont have to defend whats going on in this world, remember all this stuff is already written. The word of God says that every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I have health insurance also, and i also know it can be taken away from me at any time, but i also know that God is taking care of me not my health insurance. Obama is a man like all the previous presidents not my savoir, dont get me wrong it is historical and a blessing to have him in the white house but i dont depend nor live my life worrying about what Obama and the white house is doing, they can only do what God is allowing. Michelle i love you my sister, keep doing what you are doing until the promise to us returns and get his bride. This is not a debate i will not comment again, this is totally where my faith is, in the lord Jesus Christ system, not the health care system and what goes on on capital hill. Remember man will fail you everytime, but God will always take care of you. Much love to everyone reading this, with the love of the Lord Jesus Christ ! ! !
Hockey Dino
Someone get me the glue that Labron is sniffing.

Melanie
Larry just wanted to say I love you for the man of god that you are and so appreciate your ministry in this world
P.S. Hockey Dino, you definately should get some of God (what Larry has).
Hockey Dino My life is filled with God...I just don't sniff glue or hide behind things. I deal with reality.
Larry
If your life was filled with God you wouldn't throw unnecessary insults at people. I am a man of God,,,BUT don't get that confused with being weak at all ! I don't believe I know you or you know me. Be a real man about the situation and quit throwing insults on FB. Real men talk like men, they don't throw childish insults.
10 hours ago. Oh by the way I still love with the love of the lord. Real talk Mr. Dino!
Hockey Dino I wasn't insulting, I was clearly under the impression you sniff glue. That's not the case? They why all the boring pointless talk that has nothing to do with the topic? I'm very confused.
Larry
I see now its no talking to you, you still got something smart to say about me sniffing glue. It is a blessing I don't know who you are. I'm done with this.
Hockey Dino
I would love to talk...but everything is a bible verse to you. It is boring.
Can you have any discourse about this travesty of a bill without mentioning God? If so...bring it.

Larry
I have nothing else to speak to a person that says speaking of the bible is boring. If I recall I was speaking to Melanie  from the very beginning, I don't even know you, besides the bible says to cast not your pearls among the swine. You have been rebuked !
Melanie
Still LOVE you Larry, You are oh so right, Those who do not know God, or the wisdom, intelligence to recognize that it is ALL about him. Every breath, every sight, sound every single moment of everyday. Everything that have breath...well you do understand so I need not go on. And this was my whole point from the beggining. GOD is in control and all will be revealed, for it is already written. I do not know this person which has chosen to turn from the truth. I do know you. And again, am thankful to share in this truth we know. God continue to poor his blessings upon you.
Larry
I love you to my dear sister Melanie, be blessed !
Hockey Dino
The bible isnt boring, you talking about it sure is. As if it were something new or interesting...it's not.
Hide from the truth much?

Liberty: The Republic Died

Today's guest post is from accomplished and award winning jazz vocalist Trish Shandor.  Real jazz, not that new stuff that's boring, but the good authentic jazz.  Trish the Dish always serves up a plate of truth, with a side of reality.  She sings wonderfully, but more importantly she's a defender of liberty.

Today, our Nation's foundation laid by our great forefathers was broken. We can expect that the future of our country's infrastructure WILL crumble to the ground.  This is not "woe is me" scare tactic verbiage. This, my friends, is a reality. I do not write this to state an opinion. I write this to state the facts.  I speak to you not in magniloquence but with a conscious effort in the seeking of truth and justice for our basic freedoms that have been so brutally violated.

This Health Care Bill is a violation of the 10th, 13th, and 16th Amendments of the constitution, not to mention issues on commerce.   I have many people telling me I'm wrong or that I hate America.Trust me if I hated America, I wouldn't be so damn passionate.  It's funny that not one of these people can tell me what those amendments SAY. To chalk up my day, I have been called, stupid, misinformed, ridiculous, idiot, bitch, and my favorite, over educated by the conspiracy of the "system". How can one be OVER educated I ask? Crazy. Every action deserves to be paid attention to in thorough detail, with logic, and even with a bit of skepticism.

No one gets ANYTHING for free. AND NOTHING WILL START UNTIL 2013 and guess who won't be in office anymore by then. Do you all really think that you are gonna get SOMETHING or ANYTHING!!! That's right! There are too many Americans that oppose this bill. And those people who are passionate about it are the ones who will go to the polls.   Our Government has miserably failed to listen to America and they have failed to reflect the will of our constituents. POTUS Obama is willing to devour his presidency,  his party's congressional majority and - most disturbing - our democratic institutional safeguards to enact it. He is a reckless ideologue who is willing to sacrifice the country's stability in pursuit of a socialist utopia.

There would have been a way to reform Health Insurance company's ridiculous legal fodder without penalizing Americans for not having Health Insurance and billions of dollars in new taxes on EVERYONE including the middle class. THAT'S MOST OF US!! I doubt many people have read this bill.  "Individual Mandate" means less Liberty and more taxes. Which is proven over and over in this bill. Why is it hiring 17,000 new IRS employees but not Doctors or nurses? Because we are going to get raped for every single dollar no matter how much we make. Lest we not forget the pork spending so that the dudes that have been raping us all along get to keep their Country Club Memberships. Once a profiteer, always a profiteer.  These profiteering constituents are the ones who get all of our officials elected in the first place. They need their paybacks and it begins with big spending bills like these. The amount of spending just goes to show you how many people Barack Obama owes paybacks too for getting him elected.

No good can come of this. Seek logical reasoning. Think critically here!  Do you really think that we need a health care system that impersonalizes health care and rations medical services? Government takeover of health care also would allow Washington  to use "comparative effectiveness research" to dictate to doctors which treatments they should prescribe and how much they should cost. That in turn WILL lead to rationing of health care services. Canada and Europe already have proved that national health care translates into national nightmares, with a plethora of new government regulations and new systems of rationing medical attention. Under government-run services, personal health care would transform into more impersonal harassment. Don't forget that we have individual States in the Union who tried Universal Health Care systems and they failed miserably.  But again we've overlooked facts. What is wrong with you people? Are you paying attention? AT ALL? Or are you just too busy calling me names to check it out. And here we are again... government is the root of our problems, not the solution.

Anybody who understands the Constitution, economics, and the promise of America knows that these policies that are embraced by other countries are not only incompatible with the Constitution, but are bad for the people in the long run, both in terms of their health care and liberty! Just keep saying this over and over in your mind, th care and liberty! Just keep saying this over and over in your mind, "$938 million". To Hell with winning the Lottery. The Government will be winning the lottery every April for years and years to come. And if you think you are going to keep your insurance with your employer, think again. Your employer will find it cheaper to pay the penalty for not offering you insurance. This means that you get shoved right into the "Government option". If you do not have insurance, you will be put in jail and fined thousands of dollars. If you do not have the money to cover the expense of it, off to jail you go for five years and don't forget the FINE! The Government option will cost around $15,000 a year and the quality of your health care will be clearly sub-standard, inferior at best to what you had.

But let's not forget that this Administration has clearly violated at least THREE Amendments of our Constitution. The problem with the constitution is that people look at it like a foreign language or some Shakespearean rhetoric. What is right there in black & white, is sometimes overlooked and no one can read between the lines to understand it's true meaning. They might as well write the damn thing in Ye Olde English and wipe there asses with it.

I still believe and have faith in the American people to stand up and do the right thing. For those who think this is wonderful for America may I suggest finding exile in Canada. They share your views perfectly. However, I do believe there are loopholes in the system and here is one: State Sentors can introduce a bill for the 2010 legislative session that would make ObamaCare illegal if it violates state laws, effectively making Obamacare null and void in each state. The bill will say that no law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer or health care provider to participate in any health care system or health insurance. Oh what's that you say??? That's the system at work folks. If you live in a state that proposes this bill, you can kiss ObamaCare goodbye! I think this would be a good time for everyone to brush up on their "School House Rock". I'm Just a Bill-It explains the basics kids!

I've been wanting to run for office for a long time to get the career criminals out of office not just Republicans, Democrats too. Problem is, I'm not connected and in bed with the right people. I certainly don't have a shitload of money to put towards a campaign. I am definitely not sinister or crooked enough of a liar to cheat my way to the top. And how many people would vote for an Independent or Constitution Party candidate anyway? (Rhetorical question) So I'm going to shut my mouth now. This point is now moot to me. I believe I've said enough. I do not see the point of warbling on about what most Americans already know and/or even oppose. Many years later from today, when we are all struggling to fight for the same menial slave labor jobs, we will all say, "I remember where I was the day the Republic died". God Bless the American people and the future of our children.

Liberty: Fascist Train Wreck

The claiming grace to Fascism in Mussolini's Italy was that the trains always ran on time. As bad as things were, the trains were punctual at least. A good thing no doubt. This was for the most part a myth though.

Propaganda was spread in the 1920's that Mussolini made the trains run on time in order for the populous to believe they were benefiting from his rule.

Much like our healthcare, auto industry, banking industry etc. The government tells you that without their help, those industries will collapse. Without their help there will be no jobs. Without their help there will be million and millions of people homeless without health care. You get the drift. Their message, which unbelievably is believable to at least half of the population creates this dependence between government and people.

I call them sheeple. Perhaps you know a few?

What is Fascism? - A social system where on paper the means of production is privately owned. However the government has de facto control through regulation and ordered accompanied by corruption.

Sound familiar?

Bush and Cheney were called Fascists. Yet those same people who called them that embrace Obama Reid Pelosi as heroes. Partisan politics? Makes one think, if Obama and company did the same thing as Bush and Cheney would they be called fascists?

Corporatism is indeed fascism. I see no difference. At least the trains will run on time.

New Year's Eve - Hooray for shrimp and crab, and the traditional hockey game.

New Year's Day - I love the bowl games.

Birthday of Martin Luther King - Who care's about his birthday?  Celebrate the man, not the birthday.

Inauguration Day - zzzzzzzzz

Washington's Birthday - Again, who cares about the birthday, celebrate the man.

Armed Forces Day - Hoorah

Memorial Day - Always good for a picnic.

Flag Day - The Gasden flag I hang proudly. Don't Tread On Me.

Independence Day - The movie sucked

Labor Day - Kind of a bummer, the last day of summer.

Columbus Day - What a great day.

Election Day - I'm surprised Budweiser or Hallmark hast capitalized on this yet somehow.

Veterans Day - Thank you. I think Armistice Day sounds better though.

Thanksgiving Day - Mmmmmmmm

Christmas Eve - I dig it.
Christmas Day - Best day of the year
Groundhog Day - We really don't need this. We really don't need this.

Lincoln's Birthday - Why do we celebrate this tyrant who was responsible for Americans killing Americans?

Valentine's Day - Ugh!

St. Patrick's Day - Not a fan. It's OK though.
April Fools's Day - I live for this.
Earth Day - A complete waste of time. Totally stupid.

Administrative Assistants' Day - Stop the madness.
Arbor Day - We need more trees.
Mothers' Day - I think it's great NASCAR doesn't race this day. If only we could have 50 more non-race days.

Fathers' Day - I always think of golf on tv.

Parents' Day - Ok Hallmark...stop it.

Grandparents' Day - Just shoot me.
United Nations Day - We need to leave this useless entity and kick them out of our country. A UN headquarters in Haiti or Venezuela would be nice.
Halloween - I boycotted it for years...I'm slowly coming back.

Liberty: Pragmatism Sucks

Pragmatism is basically this: the ends justify the means.

National Healthcare - who cares how much it costs, who cares how much taxes will go up, who cares that the government is inefficient at everything it does - as long as everyone including illegal's have health care it's ok.

That line of thinking is what has killed our economy. That line of thinking is what bails out Wall Street. That line of thinking gives corporatism it's legs and power.

What does pragmatism hang it's hat on? Emotions. Emotions that fall on to "helping the sick" and the "needy". Well who doesn't want to help the sick and the needy?

This pragmatic approach to politics has to stop. It's so far out of control it's beyond sick. It all starts from the individual. The individual who says, oh well when they flick a cigarette butt out of their car window (they don't have to deal with it anymore). Do you see what I'm saying? People just don't care.

I say the ends never justify the means unless it's in self defense of your life. Yes it's great that people are going to be covered. However is it great that those that don't pay will go to jail? Is this America or Russia? Where's the choice? Where is the free will? Pragmatism believes there is no absolute truth, only the truth is what which works.

"If a building were threatened with collapse and you declared that the crumbling foundation has to be rebuilt, a pragmatist would answer that your solution is too abstract, extreme, improvable, and that immediate priority must be given to the need of putting ornaments on the balcony railings, because it would make the tenants feel better.

There was a time when a man would not utter arguments of this sort, for fear of being rightly considered a fool. Today, Pragmatism has not merely given him permission to do it and liberated him from the necessity of thought, but has elevated his mental default into an intellectual virtue, has given him the right to dismiss thinkers (or construction engineers) as naive, and has endowed him with that typically modern quality: the arrogance of the concrete-bound, who takes pride in not seeing the forest fire, or the forest, or the trees, while he is studying one inch of bark on a rotted tree stump"
-How to Read (and Not to Write) Ayn Rand

The pragmatist is interested in feel good solutions and outcomes at any cost. The ends justify the means to them.
"When the Americans flocked to pragmatism, they believed that they were joining a battle to advance their essential view of reality and of life. They did not know that they were being marched in the opposite direction, that the battle had been calculated for a diametrically opposite purpose, or that the enemy they were being pushed to destroy was: themselves."

Sports: I'm Horrible At Games

I'm Horrible At Games

I am not a great athlete, but I'm a decent hack. I'm not really in great shape, but I still have got some game left in me. I'm just a weekend warrior who's still reliving his child hood on the playing field whenever possible. Basketball, hockey, softball etc.

However, I am not good at games that require focus. I'm not good at card games. I suck at ping pong, darts, pool, and video games. Girls even beat me at pool. I don't feel defeated by it, because I don't expect to win. It's not for a lack of trying either, because I do try.

The only exception is chess. I think because I can walk away from each move and come back later. I'm pretty good at chess.

Some people are just naturals at sports and games. I am not one of those people. Maybe that's why I'm competitive. It's a challenge.
My friend likes to tell the story of how he once saw me playing basketball as he was driving by. He saw me swat the ball from some little kid that was trying to shoot on me. I put the smack down on his shot. AINT NO ONE COME IN MY HOUSE AND SCORE ON ME!!! I do recall that incident too. Am I supposed to feel bad about it? I don't.

Liberty: It Doesnt Make Census

The 2010 Census is probably the biggest invasion of privacy in the history of the USA.

However if you don't answer it, you may get fined up to $5000. Yes $5000 if you don't tell the government how many toilets you have in your house. Actually I've heard that Americans are now legally obligated to answer, and can be fined up to $1,000 per question if you refuse.

Are you willing to pay that fine or tell the truth?

I was called unAmerican because I said anything above counting how many people in your home was over the top and none of their business.

I laughed. I wonder if there's a question on the census that I have tell them how often I laugh? I love it when Republicans no less, call me unAmerican.

By law, the Census Bureau cannot share respondents' answers with anyone, including the IRS, FBI, CIA or any other government agency. Hmmmm...then why the hell do they want or need this information?

It doesnt make sense.

I'm not sure the Census bureau spending $133 million dollars on ad campaigns does either. But hey, they are on the side of a NASCAR car...so it can't be that bad right?

Oh and you have to wonder about their race question where they ask if you are Black, Negro, African American.  What?

Truth: 3 Kinds of People

There 3 kinds of people in the world:

GOOD
STUPID
EVIL

Most of the time it's GOOD vs EVIL or it's GOOD vs STUPID.

When STUPID and evil gang up on GOOD, life sucks.

I tend to believe most people are inherently good. They aren't breaking the law 24/7. They aren't breaking rules 24/7. They arent causing pain 24/7.

However when they do something bad, it's usually because they are stupid or evil - the outcome though of their actions last far longer than the act.  It's one or the other - with the exceptions being accidents.

How does good overcome evil? I don't think it's easy as eradicating it. I think you defend against it.

How does good overcome stupid? I think you have to defend against it, and you can't eradicate it either.

Defense wins ball games. Be prepared for those that are evil, and those that are stupid. Both will put you in a bad place. Both could care less about you. Both make hell.

Truth: St. Paddy's Binge

I've always wanted to really like St. Patrick's Day. I could never get fully into it though. I've tried. It is just not my thing. I've got nothing against the Irish, except they'll show up to a gun fight with a knife (That's from the Untouchables). But that's more cute than anything.

Most people I know actually are either Irish, Polish, Stupid, or Italian. All my Irish friends are essentially real good family orientated people.

I've always wanted to go to Ireland. I'm not sure why come to think of it.

I've been to a few Irish pubs and they are were decent. The food was kind of bland for me. I don't know why, I could care less about cabbage, guiness, potatoes, or shamrocks. British food is totally not my thing.

I do however like shamrock shakes. Does Mickey D's still make those?

I also wear a green shirt every year too. It is not because I care. It's so people don't ask me why I'm not wearing green. I'm conforming out of self defense. I'm not sure if that's a sin or man code violation though. I'll have to investigate.

I guess I see it again as just another excuse to get blizted. I wonder if our economy would completely shut down if we eliminated Cinco De Mayo, St. Patrick's Day, Labor Day, Fourth of July, and the day before Thanksgiving? I think it might rabbit.

I heard even that many Irish get upset at St. Patrick's Day celebrations, because all of the stereotypes. They don't want to be associated with leprechuans and clovers. I guess I can understand that. Although, they should probably lighten up.

Now I remember what I like, the Irish recently cut taxes and spending...started to privatize things...then they had an economic boom. Go figure! Imagine that. Erin Go Buy A Bragh!

St. Patrick's Day should be on a Saturday, so the bars can make more money. So people don't skip work and school during the middle of the week while the country loses productivity.  It's a win win.  Not to mention, those that dont drink...dont have to worry about idiots who need to get smashed for the hell out of it.

Truth - The Joy of Delete

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I get satisfaction by hitting the DELETE key or DELETE option.

When I get an email I don't want to read, I click delete. When I don't want to respond to someone, delete.

Spam...delete
Chain mail...delete
Untrimmed forwards...delete.

It's gotten to the point when I'm talking to myself, and repeating someone's words...I'll just mutter "delete".

Delete - it's so crisp...clean...final.. There is beauty in delete. It ends things you don't want or need. If life could be so simple as to just hit a delete key.

When that guy cuts you off on the road, hitting delete would be great. When a commie liberal spews their rhetoric, click delete. When that Ohio State Buckeye won't shut up, click delete. When you are in a meeting and someone is going on and on about nothing, click delete.

Pelosi...delete
Reid...delete
Stabusnow...delete
Rove...delete

I want a tshirt that says delete. A bumper sticker that says I just deleted you.

I would like to delete control alt delete.

I want the delete button my television remote, so when I don't like something, I'm not just changing the channel, I am getting rid of it. When I don't like the commerical that is playing, delete.

Why did you delete this?

Love Mail Hate Mail 31510

Love Mail:

-Love your posts

-You are refreshing on Facebook because you never act like a pervert like most men on here.

Hate Mail:

This really isnt hate mail, but it's some key points I'm sharing from a debate/argument I had with a liberal who was defending Nationalized Health Care.  Right off the bat he started to insult me and assume things about me. He had me pegged as a neo-con without even knowing anything about me. Now granted I threw some zingers back, because I can be juvenille too.  I'll just share the points he listed. What a nice guy. I guess I should call it stupid mail. I mean he's a learned guy, just not smart.  Blinded by his emotions and interpretations that the law should be written towards socialistic principals - much like his president.

- Hockey Dino, (or should I say Chicken Liver:) If you had any Cajones you would come out and say your real name right now...But I know you won't do that, because I know how you operate... Whatever, hide behind your mask, and your half-brained theories of where this country is going. If you were truly interested in 'ideals, ideas, and a philosophy of freedom,' you would read what you just wrote and realize that it is not freedom that you are after... But anarchy!!

- Nice try, but as an attorney, I can only operate under laws and rules.

- On to your theory of 'charity and the free market.' Here's what I've got to say to such theories. They are bullshit... A fallacy, dreamed up by some rich guy on a yacht in the middle of an ocean, surrounded by nobody!!

- And in your idealized world, how many people would, actually and voluntarily, give out of their own pockets to charitable causes? Not many, i don't believe... ANd those who did would be the suckers!

- Sure, tax cuts are a feel good solution... But taking them too far is VERY dangerous, as America is seeing now, and will see down the road because of our spending...

- I realize that none of this is going to get through your extra-ordinarily thick skull (Not to mention the poofy thing likely still on the back of your head!!) But I had to try, if only because I care about the future of this country. I am sorry if you do not.

- there you go... Speaking from my mind... Just for you... Get it? Good... Dumb-ass!!

- BTW, I think I am done responding to Dino... Apparently, he has some sort of an illness, related to diarrhea of the pen, or something... It is apparently VERY contagious, and it appears I somehow caught it...

- You are, unfortunately, the one who needs medical (read psychological) help...

-  Conservatives like you apparently keep forgetting... You hide behind your religious beliefs, (whatever they are,) using the ONLY when it is most convenient to you. when it is convenient to you, you hide behind the first amendment... When that is inconvenient to you, you try to rip the heart out of those of us who attempt to use it to our advantage... and on it goes... You are a sad lot.

- the idea that a Conservative is just that because you 'seek to conserve the principles of the constitution.' This is a typical definition of a simpleton who has no post-elementary education, (as it appears that you are...)

- In other words, lying to fit your cause, (as it seems that most Conservatives, and you, in particular, seem to do with quite a bit of frequency...)

- anybody but you and most of your ultra-right wing ditto-headed buddies] have something put before them, we don't run around like a chicken with our heads cut off shouting 'the sky is falling

- I hate to break this to you, but if you listen to everything the Cato institute says, you are an even bigger sucker than what I figured you for... (and that is one pretty big sucker...)

- In short, Dino, we apparently have VERY different viewpoints of the direction in which we want this country to go; I want it to keep moving forward, or Progressing, per se... Whereas you want to keep things static, or even regress a bit

- Maybe you would have them just be tossed out into the streets? Or into Concentration or Death camps? Maybe you are the one living in the wrong country.

Truth - My Facebook Rules Part I

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

1. If you have no life and there is some sick need to play games like Farmville, YoVille, or Mafia Wars...please don't invite me. I don't care and I don't want to know.

2. If you have no life and you play Facebook games, please turn off your notifications. All you are doing is looking like an idiot and spamming the world. The terrorists are watching you. Think about that while you stock your online aquarium with new angelfish.

3. Why do you read horoscopes? It's a complete waste of time. They are not fun, amusing, or remotely interesting. To see that you read your horoscope makes me know you have a hard time with reality. Noted.

5. Who are you? Don't ask me who I am when I am on your friends list. Who cares!

4. When you send your girlfriend a picture of a hot guy through some application, or post it on her wall, it
just shows you have no class. A milkahwat?

6. LOL, LMAO, WTH, ROFLMAO, TTYL, OMG - just stop it. Enough already. You look like an idiot. Don't waste my time. These are banned from my page. A little piece of me dies every time I see one of these.

7. Just Kidding! - Do you really need to say you are just kidding? Come on...seriously.

8. Don't tag me to events. If you want me to promote your event, I will. But let's be realistic. I am not going to promote a meet up of Dungeons and Dragons gamers. I'm not going to promote a rally for moronic Obama supporters either.

9. Don't reply to emails with OK or THANKS or anything that will waste my time by reading it. You can thank me by not doing this.

10. Don't write on my wall that you are wishing me a Happy Tuesday. I don't care, I never cared, and I will never care. You shouldn't care either. Go make some money and help the economy.

11. If I pose a question of the day, please don't reply with YES or NO or I AGREE. You are a troll when you do this.

12. If I pose a question of the day, please understand others are on the list. You aren't responding to just me, you are responding publically. Be smart.

13. If you are a guy, why are you posting pictures of scantily clad men on women's sites? I'm not getting this logic. You want them to like you or want you when you dangle another carrot to them besides yours? This is looney tunes.

14. Gifts - Stop sending virtual gifts to everyone. We don't need virtual flowers. We need real flowers so the world can be a better place. Virtual flowers do nothing for anyone except the application developer who steals your application so he can hack your account.

15. Stop complaining about Facebook changes. WHO CARES?! It's free. You get what you pay for.

16. Must you post on your status updates that you are going to bed? Must you wish everyone a good night? Why? Why? Why?

17. Open ended status updates: I'm so mad! I can't believe it. Unreal. Uh Oh. I'm Speechless. I'm so happy!!!! These are all attention seeking status updates. I mean, you want attention...fine. But get to the point already! Don't make us beg for it.

18. Fake profiles - how annoying to be talking to someone you think is a woman, then find out from a friend that it's really a man. You people are scum of the earth, and need to be arrested for stupidity and being a nut job.

19. Why do you post your phone number on Facebook? Dumb much?

20. Why do you list all your kids' names on Facebook and their ages? Parent much?

21. Why do you always post where you are so that criminals know you aren't home? Get robbed much?

22. Poke You - Poking doesn't mean I like you, want you, or love you. It just means hey or hi.

23. Guy Poke - I feel weird when guys Poke me. Stop it. Saying hey or hi is implied.

24. Chick Poke - When a girl pokes me she either likes me, wants me, or loves me. I'm ok with this.

25.Forever - Everything you type or post on the internet stays there forever. Think.

Have I missed any? Please send suggestions for Part II as this series grows. Don't forget to check out the profiles of facebookers by Intense Auburn - it's pretty spot on.

A.D.D. Rumblings No. 31310

1. When Actor Corey Haim died, the news spread within minutes across the net. Also within minutes, comments like this were out: I saw it coming. Totally expected. Another great loss. He will be missed. He was so misunderstood. He needed help. He had such a hard life. I'm not sure people really think this garbage up, or they just want their opinion stated. I tend to think, they just want to connect about the incident. This way it ties them in to someone they don't know. The comments are LAME.

2. I wonder if when you are driving a Toyota and the car accellerates on it's own...that you suddently get the OH WHAT A FEELING feeling?

3. I'm in the market for an inexpensive laptop, preferably with a built in ergonomic keyboard. Help.

5. Why is it when people go on vacation, they brag about it? I mean they go on and on about it without you even asking. It's one thing to share in the excitement of their trip when you ask...but do I really care you went here and went there when I did nothing? NO I DON'T.  Jealousy thy name is me.

4. There's this crazy buzz going around that lilac ties are a sign you are gay. It's weird, girls really love them, but if guys wear them it's a sign that they are gay. That's a weird dynamic. How do you win if you are guy that doesn't want to be gay?

6. I'm not the fashion police. However I must admit, a sports coat with a polo shirt is not a good look. Polo and golf shirts should be banned. I can't stand them. Girls I know refer to them as nipple shirts. Guys who wear them, just want to show off their nipples for some reason. Hey who turned on the air conditioning?

7. With all of the corruption that has and is occuring in Detroit City politics, it's obvioulsy quite embarrassing to the region. What is more embarrasing to me though besides the elected officials going to jail; is the fact there is talk that they should be allowed back in office once their prison time has been served. Ok I'm all for second chances, but what's really the issue here? The issue is, the morons who vote for these morons shouldn't be allowed to vote. Morons!

[ This blog is brought to you by the word peakish and the number 12 ]

8. My latest masterpiece. Chicken breast sliced in bite sizes, then cooked in a wok. High heat. Then throw in a ton of basil. Toss in thinly cut green beans. The skinny kind. Add some diced tomatoes. A tad of garlic for kicks too. Then add a bunch of wild brown rice. Cook for 10 minutes. Mix that puppy. Then throw on a bunch of mozzarella. Are you ok?

9. I'm always tapping my finger or shaking my leg. What the hell is going on? Stop it.

10.If a chick tells you she's PMS'ing, but still freaks out and goes psycho anyways...isnt that a little weird? I mean if you have the ability to identify you are freaking out then why continue?  It's like warning someone you are going to punch them in the nose and still do it.  What's the point?  Something doesn't jive.  I don't understand that other gender.  Not that I want to, I just don't.

Truth: The Tipping Point

I used to work in the restaurant business so get off my back. I know many people who work or have
worked in the restaurant business, so get off my back.

I don't understand the business of leaving tips. I just don't get it. I'm not talking about the amount to leave, or the percentage. I'm talking about the sense of entitlement restaurant workers have about tips.

I will always hear that's how they make their living and their money.  OK I get that, and I'm not
disrespecting that fact.  My gripe is not towards them particularly either as I see they don't have much choice. It's the system in place that really ticks me off.

I should be able to tip when I want, if I want to or not.  Normally on the surface you would think that's the case.  However try not leaving a tip, or forgetting to leave one...and that waiter or waitress will be in your face before you know it.

I'm not a law expert (Thank God), but from what I recall you get X amount per hour +tips as your income.  The X amount is usually below minimum wage. Somehow that doesnt seem right to me.

Then it's the whole point of tipping for average service. Come on!  I want to tip for good service, for great service...not for average service. Average to me means they are doing their job. Anything about that deserves a tip.

Am I wrong here?  For the record I do tip always, even when I'm not happy with the service. Stupid on my part.  I just don't expect good service. Holy Cow, I just identified I'm the problem.

Liberty - Driven to Diners and Dives

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. One show though that I really like on TV, aside from Breaking Bad is Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. It's on the Food Network if you haven't seen it. The host used to bother me, Guy Fieri. I can't take any man serious when he wears bracelets, and more jewelry than Lady Gaga. I mean come on? He probably wears a bluetooth ear set too I'm guessing. However he has grown on me, because I really dig the show. I don't watch it for him anyways so that doesn't really matter. I watch it for the food. It's the food man, the food!

Wow the glorious food they show. Incredible. Real food! Not tofu and lettuce pizza, but real food. Authentic, American, Ethnic,...you name it. The thing is, they use so many real ingredients...like BUTTER and BACON. Who doesn't love butter?

I love how the cooks of these establishments just make food out of memory. They don't read recipes, they don't have charts to look at. They just have a feel.

I'm not one for watching cooking shows to begin with. I am bored to death with Iron Chef, with baking contests, with some cook standing behind a counter like Giara or Rachel Ray. So it's odd for me to really dig a food show.

The other cool aspect of it all, is the fact these Diners and Dives are just that. Real places, owned by real people. Not your run of the mill chain restaurant garbage. Give me Jim's Blimpy Burgers, Zingerman's, The Grecian Deli any day over Apple Bee's or Friday's. Any day!

You ever go to a chain restaurant and just know that the food was probably some frozen dinner, massed produced, laced with sodium stuck, and stuck in a freezer for weeks? That's how I feel.

No more! No mas!

I need real food. Forget the chain restaurants. I blame you for their existence because you keep going there. You you you...it's your fault.

Support your local diners, drive ins, and dives - fuel for your soul.

Truth - The Anti-Religion Folk

I'm always running into folks who have to tell me they are anti-religion. I don't know why they feel the need to tell me this. It's their calling card perhaps or maybe a badge of honor. I've always found there to be some smug arrogance around that statement, because it's always emphasized. "Hey how are you, by the way I'm anti-religion."  Atheists do the same thing. More often than not, if there is an atheist around, you'll know it. "Hey did you see the baseball game last night? I'm an atheist!".

Here's my only problem with atheists.  How do they know? I mean how can they really know there is not
something out there?  Their response is always the counter point to "well you can't prove otherwise". While that may be entirely true, how do they prove there isn't anything is my question? I've never understood that.

Then there's the whole agnostic folks who don't believe in anything, they just watch the world go by and breathe I suppose. I never understood that positioning a whole lot either. I know that people use this just to make sure they are "middle of the road". They want to be viewed as neutral on all accounts. It's the "SAFE" stance for everything. They don't want to be pro God, they are too afraid to be ant-God; they don't want to be right politically and they don't want to be left politically.

Those anti-religion folk are very cult like. Watch out, they'll spike your kool-aid, make you feel guilty.

By the way, I'm anti-you-telling-me-what-you-believe-in.

Truth - You Can't Handle The Truth

My friend says this to me: "In truth, what is right and wrong? Another one of those things left to the mind that creates it."

I about died.

In fact a little part of me surely died when I heard this.  It bothers me.

If one agrees that the truth is something you can conjure up, that you can make happen, that you can fool yourself into thinking as reality, then yeah sure that works.

I think though, if you aspire to that philosophy you'll drive yourself nuts. You'll always accept things as they are, or people as they are.  In other words, you'll chalk off everything as just being their truth.

Truth is the recognition of reality, not what you create. Reality is reality, not what you create or make of it. Reality exists onto itself, not just what you percieve it to me.  If 20 people think a chair is a dog, and they all believe that...it doesnt make the chair a dog.  The chair is a chair, and never a dog - despite one's created truth, or blurred reality.  A thing is what it is.  THE TRUTH IS THE TRUTH.

Truth is the recognition of reality. How do you handle it?

Dear HockeyDino: The Lady Is A Tramp

Dear HockeyDino,

My best friend posts really unflattering pictures of herself on FB.  Sometimes in a bikini.  It's not pretty. People make fun of her behind her back.  I am embarrassed about the pictures, and I don't want people making fun of her.  Should I tell her or keep my mouth shut?

Signed,

Embarrased Edna

______________________________

Dear Edna,

This is a rampant epidemic all over Facebook.  I am not sure there is a cure, other than to ignore it.  It may just go away.  The thing is, others who don't ignore it will feed into her sickness and it will never end.  Don't blame her, blame the folks that comment on her photos telling her how great she looks, and how naughty she is etc.  The attention is feeding her ego and forcing her to do more.

I think you are not wanting to hurt her, but the fact she is embarrassing you means it has effected your relationship.  You either have to suck it up and take it or confront her about it.  Do you want to lose this friend?  Do you want to tick her off?  Do you want to hurt her feelings?  Do you want to be associated with this tramp?

There are so many cliche's here: To each his own.  Life is too short, let it go.  If you have nothing good to say, don't say it. Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder . Don't be so shallow Hal. etc.

I would tell her that people are talking about her, and that takes the pressure off of you.  She's probably too dumb to understand what she is doing.  Embarrasment is an ugly thing to face, especially when looking in the mirror.  If she stops you will then have joined forces with me in saving the world one click at a time.  If she doesnt stop, send me the link to her profile so I can share it with several thousand people. All in good fun of course.

Truth: Peace, Joy, and Abundance

I recently spent some time hanging out with a friend who's gone through some life changing events.   He's a joy to talk to because he offers an insight and perspective on things that have been cultivated by his internal discovery examining the self.

Peace, Joy, and Abundance.  These are the three things he brings to the table where ever he goes.  This is what he thinks about.  It's not some magical cloud that hangs over his head.  It's not a business card he passes out.  But in a sense it is.  It's his energy around him that he conveys.

I'm not talking new age or junk science crap. I'm talking about attitude.  This is the attitude he brings to conversations, meetings, events.  This is how he engages the world.   Why?

I asked him why?  He said because he was stuck and needed to identify the three things in his life that was missing.  He was missing those three things. So those three things are his mantra.  His modus operandi.

So he focuses on those aspects in every situation. He brings those things to his life, because that's what he needs.  Sounds simple, but it's probably complicated.  It probably takes quite a bit of time to get to that point. Hard to teach an old dog new tricks?

So my personal project is to find three things I am missing in my life.
1. Money
2. Money
3. Money

I couldnt think of anything else.  So that doesnt fly. I need to get 3 different things.

1. Money
2.
3.

I don't know what they are yet.  I'm sure I do, but I'm having a hard time identifying them. I'm also having a hard time to not put eggplant on the list.  But I just might. Eggplant represents health and good food.  I've been lacking there quite a bit.

I'm open for suggestions while I figure this out. I'll get back to you and keep you posted.  Ruff Ruff

Truth - Germaphobia

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Am I a germ freak? No I don't think so.

So here's my deal though. I have no problem hugging, shaking hands, and kissing people that I know. It just doesn't phase me one bit.

However, if I have to shake hands with a stranger...I am immediately looking for the hand sanitizer, or wipe my hand when they aren't looking.

If I am in a restaurant, and the bus boy or water puts their hands near the top of my glass, I'm not drinking from it. I always look too. Sorry gargoyle, send me another!

If the waitress touches her hair or face, then touches my plate...I freak out. I have a hard time eating without squirming in disgust.

When I go through doors at stores, I always use my sleeve or push with my elbow and foot to get through. The thought of zillions of hand bacteria from nose pickers makes me shiver.

If I am in a public restroom, I always use a paper towel to open the door.

If I'm standing in a crowded room, whether it be a stadium or mall, I get grossed out when people are near me. I'm just disgusted looking at them. I'm disgusted knowing only a small layer of cloth separates me from their grossness.

I wonder if they showered. I wonder if they washed their hands. I wonder if they have lice.

I've come to be this way recently. I've not always been this way. I call it evolving. I should transpose this freakiness to my own dwelling and clean more. That's probably what I need to do. But I love me, and I don't gross me out. I know where my hands have been. I don't have lice, and I shower often. Thus the disconnect.

I guess I am a germ freak...I'm a stranger germ freak.

Truth: Those People Are Pretentious

Pretentious
–adjective

1.full of pretense or pretension.
2.characterized by assumption of dignity or importance.
3.making an exaggerated outward show; ostentatious.

What does that really mean to call someone else pretentious? You are identifying that they are trying to be something they are not. Correct?
What if you saw someone dressed up at a bar, and you said to yourself - that person is just pretentious.  You are saying that because you think they are dressed a certain way and it bugs you.  They are trying to be something they are not.

Is that really the case? If a person is wearing a pimp suit, is he really trying to be a pimp? What if he really is a pimp?  What if he is color blind? What if he really likes that, and that's how he always dresses.

We get caught up in what people wear when they don't dress like we do. I find it odd that people who call other people pretentious, are indeed actually being pretentious by making those claims.

Do you follow? It's along the same lines when people say they never judge, and they ask me who am I to judge? When in fact they are judging me by asking me that question to begin with.

I find this to be looney tunes.

I don't like the way certain people dress. I can easily assume that they are pretentious. I can't stand bass fishing hats at a wedding.  I don't like hoodies on chicks. I don't like baggy homeboy pants. I ask you, is it pretentious of me to think these people are pretentious in how they dress?  Everyone is trying to be someone they are not, by definition. Is that true? Aren't we all trying to be somebody...being yourself.

By the way how do you really feel about my shirt?

Sports: ESPN Jumped The Shark

I can't watch ESPN anymore. It drives me bonkers.

The truth is, I've never been a fan of it. I've been a participant of it. Where else could I have went for hockey scores?

I'm not talking about the sporting events, it's still pretty darn good for that.  I am referring to SportsCenter and all of the other useless shows.  Now I'm a sports junkie, but they arent cutting it.  I use the internet, Twitter, and Facebook to get my instant news.

I never liked having to wait for the sports highlights I wanted to see either.  I never liked waiting, only to have the team I want to see totally ignored and just a score shown.  I never liked seeing all the sports highlights split up.

I never liked how it repeated every 30 minutes the entire morning either without updating the news information.

Most of all, I can't stand the anchors and the reports.  The anchors all have to be the witty, humor filled, sarcastic driven mouth with a smug attitude.   The reports are even worse.  All these dramatic human interest stories over and over....puke.  What is this, the Olympics?

Then the changing of the tone for the voices of the anchor reporter when there is something serious happening.

Just read the news, let me decide if I should be upset or not.  It's so freaking dramatic.  Boring and pretentious.

The other sports highlight shows arent much better.  They are all the same pretty much from channel to channel.  I always had this hope it would somehow change, but it hasnt.   I am convinced now each sport needs their own channell.  The hockey channel would have its own weather and sports forecasts.  Others would do the same.

No more waiting for hockey info, it's all there. No more sharing of baseball information with NASCAR.

I do love my Baseball Tonight Show though.

Truth: Shamu On You

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. Recently when a killer whale (Yes I said KILLER) attacked and killed a trainer at Sea World certain questions were raised. Was it the fault of the whale? Was it the fault of the trainer? Was the animal nuts?

Hello!!!??? Anyone home???

It's a KILLER WHALE. KILLER. That means it KILLS. It's not called a HUGGY WHALE or KISSME WHALE. It's a KILLER WHALE.

Probably the only creature that could kill a Great White Shark. These suckers are crazy predators.

I've been to Sea World several times. It's pretty cool, and great fun. That Shamu, what a crazy cat for sure. However, come on people... It's friggin killer whale! Did I mention that already?

These animals are great to study, to learn from etc. But to put them on display to show they can bounce a beach ball in exchange for sardines is looney tunes. Let these bastards go free so they can kill sharks and seals or something. I don't get it.

I have no problems with zoo's. I have no problem with eating animals, using them for testing, for clothes. But to have them on display so everyone can buy Shamu t-shirts and stuffed animals is nonsense. Do you get what I'm saying? You dig?

It really sucks the trainer lost her life. What sucks even more is they are putting the whale on probation for two weeks. So if my dog bites the neighbor kid down the street who was yanking on his tail, the cops can shoot my dog dead. Yet if a whale which is supposed to kill, actually kills...he just gets a time out? Wacko! That sucker should be made into bubble gum right now.

Save the whales...hey funky mama save the whales

Truth - Bar Snob

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The other night I was subjected to enter one of the finer drinking establishments in the Downriver are of of southeastern Michigan. I was forced to go against my own will. I was not held at gun point, it was far worse... I was held at guilt point.

Me being of open mind, sound, and body caved in to the command, I mean request....and decided I could handle it for a bit. So as I entered this saloon, the first thing I notice is the wicked smell of smoke that punches me right in the face. I just entered Gross Tech University. Immediately I start to sniffle, as smoke just screws up my sinuses. Instant discomfort.

A rather large place, that was decorated in 1970, with every Budweiser and Miller mirror known to man. I especially enjoyed the Budweiser mirror that had 3 wild turkeys on it (Not the wine, but actual turkeys). I suppose Budweiser thinks hunters like to look at pictures of turkeys?

I played pool and darts. Yes I lost, because I'm not good at those games. I like them, but I admit I am only good at hockey and thumb fights...and Stratego. On the television I was hoping to see the basketball game or the Olympics. Instead they had country music videos and boxing. Maybe they didn't know the Olympics were going on? That's what I was thinking.

Anyways I tend to people watch wherever I go. Every guy in the place had a baseball cap on. Every girls had a hoodie on ( I hate hoodies). Oh and there was karaoke. I had to endure a 55 year old sing Losing My Religion by REM. I felt like losing my dinner. A place like this stays open because people don't care where they eat and drink.

I'm not a fan of karaoke. I don't mind it, but more often than not the singers SUCK. I don't mind that they can't sing, I mind they can't pick out decent songs to sing. I cannot handle country music.

I was not disgusted, and I came out alive. I did feel like I was in some 1970's Burt Reynolds' movie.

I'm a bar snob.

Will I go there again? Guilt thy name is son of Italian Catholic Mom.

Sports: I'm A Bitter Loser!

I hold these truths to be self evident:

2nd Place is the first to lose.
Winning isnt everything, it's the only thing.
Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser.
Well these are evident to me.  Apparently to most people this means I'm a poor sport or bitter.  I posted these truths when Canada beat the U.S. in Olympic hockey on Facebook.  When the game was over, my blackberry started buzzing off the hook. I looked and there was all this feel good garbage about what a great game it was, how proud they were.  I wanted to puke.  Here is what I have to deal with:

I am very proud of my Pittsburgh team players from all the countries - yeah I would of loved The USA to of had the gold.. but wasn't it just so sweet to watch Crosby score???

- Just shoot me dead.
I have to say I am proud to be American, but also being a Red Wing fan I am proud of Babcock and especially one of the greatest hockey players of all time Steve Yzerman!

- Are you freaking kidding me?  Who cares about the NHL connections; let alone the coach.  Unreal.

It was a great game.

- It was?  The U.S lost!  It was a very good game, it was not a great game.

USA was not happy about losing. Not one USA player smiled about that silver medal

- GOOD. They blew it.

Well if someone else had to win this

- Does it matter if Canada won or Latvia? No..the US lost. That's all that matters.

I'm overwhelmed with joy for both teams ! I wish team USA would smile, they were great - silver is not a bad thing :) I sure hope Rafulski shows us his silver !!!! Maybe we'll even get to see Babcock & Yzerman's gold!!

- Oh brother. See what I mean?  Pure idiocy!
Bitter much? suck it up, we kicked your ass, not only the men, but the women.

- Woman's hockey? what?????? zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Both teams played so well!

- These are the same people who congratulate their kids for getting a C on their report card. "It's trying is all that counts".   Gag.

Wow Dino....how unsportsmanlike of you.
- AMEN!
