It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. If I hear one more person tell me Life is a journey or that something is a part of "life's journey"; I'm going to lose it. I repeat, I am going to lose it.
Stop it. You get on these buzz words and phrases, and it never ends. I see it all over Google+ and Facebook "just another adventure in life's journey", "God's journey is full of grace","one must support your children through their journey" etc.
Stop it.
A friend of mine said she is supporting her children's journey through Catholicism. I about tackled her on the spot. She said would you prefer I used the word adventure? I said sure by all means. An Adventure is fun, spontaneous, you don't know what to expect. A journey is just full of plague, 40 years of desert walking, locust, and its a cheap Dodge vehicle. No thanks. It's also a chick rock band too that I never cared for.
The simplified definition attached to life with the word journey just bugs me. I know it sounds like a contradiction to my latest mantra of making life simple, but it is not. I want life to be simple. I just believe if you put it all under this umbrella called "journey" you are cutting it short. Simple is fine, short is not. Even a long journey can be short if the perspective is lessened.
Don't stop believing
