It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I tend to buy avocados and make my own Guacamole. It's damn good if I do say so myself. I also buy pre-made guacamole from the local deli. It's damn good if I do say so myself.
However avocados don't last long. They spoil quickly. I don't know why. Guacamole doesn't last more than a couple of days in the fridge either. I don't know why.
So I love the stuff, but I end up throwing a bit of it away since it spoils. I'm getting hosed here on cost.
There are many foods that I buy, that I just end up throwing away or it spoils. Obviously I'm not a good food shopper, but I have good intentions.
The whole thing bothers me, as it bothers me there is so much food being wasted by everyone. There's got to be a better way to preserve foods (without preservatives of course). There's got to be away to manage my foods better. I'm throwing money out the door, when food goes to waste.
I know a guy that buys his dinner everyday from the market. That way he knows what to buy, what to make, what to eat. There are no left overs and he's good to go. I've heard you save money this way. I suppose one could. I also don't go to the big member stores like Costco. I know you end up spending more and using more than you need. Buying in quantity, well you are still spending money. I think it works for parties or for cleaning supplies, but never everyday food.
Food spoiling and being thrown away. There's got to be a better solution. What I'm doing isn't working. What do you do? Do you even notice?
