Truth: Me A Grinch Or Scrooge?

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.  So every year in late November or early December I go down to the basement, then haul up the boxes of Christmas bling and chotzky.  The very heavy boxes I might add.  All full of decorations, ornaments, and gaudy quirky Christmas stuff.  A royal pain in the pass.  It takes me about 3 to 4 hours to set things up. A royal pain in the ass.

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year.  However I have to really say it consists of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  The time before doesn't mean that much to me. That especially includes setting things up.  So then I have all of this stuff up for weeks, and I don't know why.   All the while when setting it up I stress about cleaning it up in January.  When I look back at all the Christmas holidays of years past the 5 weeks of decorations mean nothing to me.  So why do it?

To show off? No.  To enjoy it? No. Preparation?  No.  So what is it?  I don't know exactly.  I think it is more of just getting it out of the way, so I don't have to do it the week of Christmas.  That's probably it.  I sound like a scrooge don't I?   Well thanks for noticing, I am somewhat and that is the truth. I love Christmas, but the prior weeks of it?...hey unless the country gets the entire month of, I'm not buying it.

Here's what should happen.  The final week of November and after Thanksgiving, all the stores should have their sales on, and be open 24 hours.  Then on December 1 through December 31, there should be one College bowl game on every day.  Also a  law that says you cannot put up Christmas decorations until December 1, and they must come down January 2nd.   That should make everyone happy.

And for goodness sake, no Christmas music on the radio until the week of Christmas. Geezus!  Another thing, no music artist is to allowed to release a Christmas cover ever again.  We need new Christmas music, not the same old stuff over and over.

I need a hug.
