Leave People Alone

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I can't help but notice that people just don't leave people alone. They bully them. They pick on them. They criticize them. Hey I'm guilty of picking on the stupid, and I criticize behaviors I don't like. But geezus...I want reason, education, logic, and yes humor to fix things. I am not calling on the government to fix things.

All of these government programs, all paved with good intentions ignited by compassion, or yes even profit just don't make a whole lot of sense. A private charity or institution would do so much better, and they always do. Anything that the government touches inevitably fails. Why? Because there is red tape and no profit. Sorry, compassion is not the motivator to get things done. Sure, when it is totally necessary like after a hurricane...but for preventative and immediate need, the government doesn't work.

A chicken in every pot, the great society, 1000 points of light, faith based initiatives...sorry this is bad news. Yes they mean well. Most liberals mean well. They just go about it wrongly. However it isn't just the liberals doing this. The social conservatives who want to legislate morality do this and I find it frightening. Really? What does it matter who you marry? It should be none of any one's business. These right wing Christian nut jobs just come across as STUPID. So ass backwards. Stick to conservatism and keep your redneck ways to yourself.

If you are so hell bent on family values, then raise good family members yourself. Don't tell me how to raise mine. Don't create law and policy forcing me to be like you, all for the greater common good according to your judgement. Screw that noise.

The pursuit of happiness has turned into the pursuit of what the majority wants. Hey we want people to be productive members of society right? Then give them a chance. Don't force them to do it. That's my rant for the day. Leave people alone, and let them live their lives. They will figure it out.

Live free or die. That should mean something.
