Truth - Old Skills

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. I'm all for modern technology. I'm all for making life easier and better. I love gadgets and gizmos that are fun to play with.  Granted I am not up to do date on all the technology like I want to be, but I'm hip to it.

With that being said, it still is cool to know people who don't deal in technology. The people who don't watch TV.  They people that don't have an email address. The people that don't drive.  The people that grow much of their own food, or walk to market.  The people who are old school.

Who are these people?  They are a shrinking group of folks, who are usually in their late 70's and up.  They lived through the simpler times, and actually worked to get things done.  They washed their own clothes.  The cleaned their own chickens. They grew their own vegetables.

There's something cool about those people who lives through those times. I don't mean simpler as in life was easier.  Life was tougher, but not as complicated.  You worked, you got benefits. If you didn't work, you got nothing.

It's nice to hear stories about people who did such things. I was at the end of that era. I was too young to notice, and the technology revolution was my generation.  The people who were my elders lived that way.

Then again, they paved the way for life to be easier for us. Life might be easier, but on the flip side...its so damn complicated now.

Which do you prefer? Then or now?
