It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The governor of Michigan is doing what his job entails - and that is govern over administrative services of the state. Part of that governing is to save the dying city known as Detroit.
Here is what I don't get. The backlash and the protest of the people who are suffering under the inept and corrupt city officials. Blight, unemployment, crime, exodus, debt...you name it...Detroit is the epitome of liberal puke.
So can the people who are protesting be that stupid as to oppose such measures? Look I am no proponent of the state having more power. The fact is, the city is incorporated by the state so they really don't have a say. This territorial tribalism is a joke. You can't save yourselves, let the nerd with a calculator do it for you. You can't do it. You've had the chance, let someone in to save it...if it can be saved.
You can debate the ethics of a financial manager being used of course. Can you though debate the functional need for one? No freaking way.
Detroit you suck for a reason. Shut up and let this work, because you are just embarrassing yourself. The once jewel of the Midwest is now the armpit of America. Leftism, coupled with stupidity does not work.

You failed to mention coupled with corruption, and the city has been rife with it for decades. There is no debating the ethics, other than whether it should have been done sooner. The rest of the state is tired of pouring their tax dollars into that corrupt money pit.
ReplyDeleteI don't even want to drive through Detroit anymore. It's a lot worse than it used to be. I used to work there and even with a gun it was scary.
ReplyDeleteNow when I drive thru to get to Canada I pray that I get there ok without getting carjacked.
If there were only an example of the Governor's controller that had worked or that had been less corrupt than the elected government officials. So far there's only been one success case under the law, but there have been how many scandals because of it? On top of everything else, the law was revoked, but doesn't go back into effect until the end of the month. The Governor literally broke the law to put it in force.
