Pleasant Diversions

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. My friend from Aphronic Reverie made me think about my rant regarding Gaming Losers.  Her man is a gamer and he is no loser was her contention.  Well I have to agree since I know him a little and he's nothing of the sort. So I need to explain my thinking and not be so accusatory or generalizing of gamers.

Gamers are not all losers. I think gaming is losing though. That is that time could be better spent and more productive. You can chalk it up to many things that fall under the waste of time umbrella besides gaming. To each his own of course.

My rant was dedicated to those who really should get out of their mom's basement and experience life more. It was dedicated to those who I know personally...who make six figures, do nothing but play games.  Yes they can do what they want. Yes it doesn't impact my life. That's kind of my point. I want them to impact life, in a good positive way. I want them to start businesses, be rich, donate to charity, build their communities up. That's the point.

I was also inspired or should I say fired up to hear a guy on the radio say he played Grand Theft Auto with his 7 year old daughter and thought that was ok. It's not ok!

So I apologize to anyone who plays games. You are not a loser for playing games. You are a loser if you just play games and do nothing else.  I can't retract that aspect of my rant.  That applies to any other waste of time activity too of course which I'll be the first to raise my hand in doing.

Hedonism on many levels bothers me. I tend to think that there is too much self instant gratification going on - just because some meme was put together and it sounds good.  The whole concept of YOLO falls very close to this sentiment.

Just because you can do something does not mean you should.  What it the outcome of doing such things anyways?  I look for more. I want more. I hope others whom I come in contact can provide more. I'm let down too much.
